Als het grootste hotel in het centrum van Amsterdam gaan we ons inzetten voor de zeldzame spierziekte van Pompe. Met 20 team members gaan we deze sportieve uitdaging aan om onszelf uit te dagen, maar ook om de zeldzame Ziekte van Pompe te steunen.

De Triathlon waaraan wij gaan deelnemen is een bucketlist voor velen en zal plaats vinden op 9 juni. Tijdens onze trainingsweg naar de triathlon leek het ons fantastisch om ons in te zetten voor een goed doel. Hopelijk rennen wij op 9 juni met minimaal €10.000,- over de finishlijn.

Hilton streeft ernaar om een positieve impact uit te stralen op gebied van Environment, Social and Governance. Onze welbekende ESG- strategie. Travel With Purpose is een fundamenteel onderdeel van wat Hilton wil uitstralen. Hier valt deze fantastische actie ook onder.

Door geld in te zamelen voor de Stichting Ziekte van Pompe dragen we bij aan de bekendheid van de ziekte van Pompe en voor het onderzoek naar Gentherapie. Op dit moment is genezing nog niet mogelijk, maar met Gentherapie wordt dit in de toekomst wel mogelijk gemaakt. En daar is veel geld voor nodig.

Over de ziekte van Pompe:
De Ziekte van Pompe is een erfelijke spierziekte die toenemende zwakte veroorzaakt van de skeletspieren, de ademhalingsspieren en bij kinderen ook van de hartspier. Het is een nog onbekende ziekte, die veel onderzoek nodig heeft.

Informatie Triathlon:
Sprint:                 500m zwemmen, 25 km fietsen, 5 km hardlopen

Standaard:         1500 m zwemmen, 45 km fietsen, 10 km hardlopen

Doelstelling:
Een gaaf sportief evenement met ons team en om een prachtig bedrag op te halen voor de Stichting van Pompe. Ons streefbedrag met 20 personen is minimaal €10.000,-.

As the largest hotel in the center of Amsterdam, we are going to dedicate ourselves to the rare Pompe muscle disease. With 20 team members we will take on this sporty oppurtunity to challenge ourselves, but also to support the Pompe Disease.

The Triathlon we will participate is a bucket list for many and will take place on June 9. During our training road to the triathlon, we thought it would be great to get involved for charity. So, here we are, aiming to cross that finish line with €10,000 in the bag for the Pompe Disease Foundation.

By raising money for the Pompe Disease Foundation, we are helping to raise awareness of Pompe disease and for research into Gene Therapy. Right now, there's no cure, but with Gene Therapy, there's hope for the future. And let’s be real, that takes a lot of money.

About Pompe disease:
Pompe disease is an inherited muscle disease that causes increasing weakness of skeletal muscles, respiratory muscles and in children also of the heart muscle. It is a still unknown disease that needs much research.

Information triatlon:
Now, about the triathlon itself: we've got two flavors. There's the Sprint, with a 500m swim, 25km cycle, and a 5km run. Then there's the Standard, packing in a 1500m swim, 45km bike, and a 10km run.

Our goal:
Our goal? Well, we're in it for the thrill of the race with our crew, and to raise a wonderful amount for the Pompe Foundation. Our target amount with 20 people is at least €10,000. 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️
