The challenge: 18 colleagues and friends and myself are taking on this time is that of an Olympic Triathlon, meaning that on Sunday 9th June we will swim in open water for 1.500 metres, road cycle for 42 km and run for 10km. If all goes well this should take about 3 hours whereby the combination of the 3 disciplines and the additional pressure this puts on your muscles and overall stamina/breathing will be our biggest challenge.
Our goal as a team? To all finish in good health, have fun and raise a total of Euro 10K for Stichting Ziekte van Pompe
Pompe disease is an inherited muscle disease that causes increasing weakness of skeletal muscles, respiratory muscles and in children also of the heart muscle. It is a disease that could potentially be cured at some point in the future, but for this to happen a lot more money and research is needed. For additional information on the Pompe Disease Foundation please visit their website or send me a PM.
